When performed expertly, the face lift procedure should leave minimal bruising and swelling. Personally, I seldom leave draining tubes behind and never place any bandages at the end of the surgery. The patient is simply given a shampoo and fitted with a neck support garment that can be removed at anytime. Showering is encouraged the following morning before returning for the first follow-up visit.
